How to protect my account?

  • [Security] How can I be sure the email has been sent by gPotato and not by others?
  •

There is a risk that you will receive fraudulent emails from people trying to make you believe they are members of the gPotato.eu team. Their purpose is to collect your personal details and account information. Several emails of this kind seem to come from the gPotato.eu team by imitating the structure of our emails or by using the name of our employees in the signature.

Please keep in mind that we will only contact you through the Help Desk.

Moreover, a member of the gPotato team will NEVER require you to provide your gPotato password or your email address password. Only your gPotato ID or the answer to the secret question will be required if your account is suspended, or if you contact us for any issue related to your account.

  • [Security] How do I protect my computer system from being hacked or accessed by others without my permission?
  •

Here’s a summary of the rules to follow:
    - Never accept files from people you do not know and trust.
    - Avoid downloading programs from unfamiliar sources.
    - Install antivirus software; keep it active on your system and ensure you always have the most up-to-date virus signature files.
    - Use caution when accessing instant messaging and chat programs.
    - Install a firewall on your system if you’re not connected to a secure network.
    - Never share your gPotato ID or any account IDs.
    - Never install a program that is said to give you an advantage, cheat or any other benefits in the game.
    - Run the virus scanner on files received prior to installing or executing them.

Security measures for your gPotato Account:

    - Use a unique gPotato ID, different from the account name you will use in other services.
    - Never give your gPotato password (or any other passwords, for that matter) to anyone.
    - Change your gPotato account password at least once every month.
    - Use a complicated password structure, and passwords should be at least eight characters long.
