Weekly update is indeed not at all needed. Monthly? Yes, please. For us mid-rank guilds it is a great way to profile our progress both to members and non-members.

well the leaderboard is useless for Astral riders, like someone is going to take the first place from you anytime soon.. but the other guilds like to check how they are doing compared to other guilds. For everything else i gotta agree with what Oshi said.

Gm's have lots of work to do, this leader board is just stupid, since players dont even care about the progress of theyr guild bcz they are too busy whit the following content:

Dominion (bigest joke ever)

New Raid instance (wich is only possible to kill 1 boss since the other 2 next ones just do basic 2M damage to ALL RAID :D )

New Astral ( wich takes in my case 10 more weeks to unlock new sectores and im already fully geared for those sectores FUN FUN 0,3% unlock per map such a joke)

Copy paste events like for example this summy one

I dont see anything wrong with it being monthly updated, not like there's a fierce competition anyway. Just it should stated so, so that people know what to expect :)
